Advantages over 'high street' Systems:-

• Absolutely 'straight advice' - no sales banter or half-truths
• Value - to buy an equivalent system would cost an additional £270 above the stores price (see detail below)
• XP Operating system - you really don't want the new and unsatisfactory VISTA, it offers nothing extra above XP and has some serious disadvantages. (Ok, so it looks bit nicer - but if you want the new Aero look - you need a very, very high spec system, at present this is just not worth it).

• XP has been recently judged by the leading professional computer magazine to be better in all the following areas:

Why pay for a new really powerful machine just to get 'old' performance - no better than most old systems and much worse than a well set-up new XP system?

• Set-up - mass produced systems use an 'image' installation, they are NOT specific to your machine. This makes them run slower as they are not tuned to your specific hardware.
• Bundled applications - mostly useless or the wrong ones. This is driven by the manufacturer being paid to install these applications rather than what is useful to you. This has a MAJOR impact on performance, reliability and start-up time.
• Standard installations have many 'services' running that are not necessary or can cause issues and security problems.
• The 'standard' antivirus installed is not as good as some free systems and they clog up your system and cause all sorts of issues especially when networking and sharing resources such as printers or if you use some types of Internet programs.
• They are only half set-up when delivered - it can be difficult to set them up properly, for instance at least a third of systems I see do not have their screen resolutions set-up correctly - you the customer, pays for a quality screen and gets the equivalent of a very poor one!
• After sales advice and repair is usually very poor - if there is a problem they are likely lose you data and documents, photos, music etc!
• Setting-up email, Broadband, wireless etc is left to you - and its not easy unless you are expert.
• Few, if any, suppliers offer data transfer as part of the installation - I will ensure you data, address book, documents, photos, music is transferred to your new system (additional cost of approx £20 to £40 depending on quantity / time)
• Supplied with full XP and driver disks - many retailers do not provide these and in the future you may need to purchase them again!
• My systems have a full on-site warrantee for 1 year with a complete service to ensure you are not left with any issues. (This does not include damage to the system due to viruses etc or misuse of the system by young family members! - But I will fix at a sensible cost)

Evaluation against "high street" Costs

Total = £270 - this is what you would pay on top of the high street system cost
